Marshall Sante Fe Trail Heritage Days Parade
Marshall, MO
September 12, 2015
Canceled
This is an invitation to you and your band to
participate in the Marshall Santa Fe Trail Heritage Days
Parade. In keeping with the Marshall Cultural Council’s
motto – “Marshall IS Music” we want to include in our
celebration a grand musical element. In the 1800's many
towns had their own band that would play and march in
special events throughout the year, so in keeping with
that musical tradition we planning our first ever Parade
Competition.
The Council is working with MSHSAA to sanction this
competition. This will not be completed, per MSHSAA,
until sometime in August.
We are offering to the Bands that participate:
1. $100 to each Band Director as help to defray
travel expenses.
2. Trophies will be given for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place
3. Our judges are approved competition judges
4. Each Band will be given a copy of the judge’s
evaluations
5. This competition will be limited to 10
participants
6. An opportunity for Directors to try out their
band and get feedback prior to regular competition
season
7. Opportunity for Band members to try out their
skills and get feedback from Director for additions
and corrections.
8. An opportunity to participate in an awesome event
in Marshall and be noted as the first bands to
compete in the Annual Marshall Santa Fe Trail
Heritage Days Parade and Band Competition. After all
What is a parade without marching bands and
music!!!!
Parade – Saturday, September 12th
Parade starts at 10:30AM. Line up starts at 9:30 AM
There will be many activities on Saturday such as a
Heritage and Modern Day Craft Fair, entertainment (still
in the planning stage), food vendors, children’s games
and many other interesting displays about the 1800’s.
We sincerely hope that you will give consideration to
participating in our music event. We are hoping to have
a commitment for participation before the end of April.
We don’t want to extend this registration into the
summer unless absolutely necessary. Planning and
confirming participation is vital to the success of this
portion of the event. We are so excited about the
possibilities of including a marching competition in our
parade and hope that you feel the same way. It is all
about music and the students being able to show off what
they have been working on so hard throughout the summer
band camps. Looking forward to hearing from you very
soon.
